Pittsburgh Paint has cleaned up its unfortunately nicknamed “drippy P” logo. The 150-year-old coatings company’s new logo has clean, defined edges; a more limited color palette; and a stronger presence overall. The lines inside the monogram suggest pathways to success, as does the new punny strapline, “Priming you for success.”

Since the 1950s, the company’s identity has been all about the many colors of paint it offered: in fact, each brush-painted letter in the wordmark from that time was in a different color. The new design moves away from the more frustrating aspects of the painting process—choosing the perfect color as well as the ensuing drippy mess—and instead focuses on the benefits a fresh coat of paint affords any space.
